May 30, 2013: Bunny Foo Foo joins our family!

While helping Jacob and Shauna install newer cabinets in their kitchen this summer, their next-door neighbor found a beautiful, black and white rabbit hiding out in his garage. He came over and asked if the rabbit belonged to us, and we ended up rescuing the poor rabbit and giving him a home. He stayed in a large box at Jacob and Shauna's house until I could find a decent cage for him. Their yard isn't completely closed in, so a rabbit could easily escape. I love rabbits (and horses) and knew the grandkids would love a pet rabbit too, and my backyard is completely closed in.

A day or two later, I bought a sturdy dog kennel from the same guy who found the rabbit! We named him Buckeye until we discovered that he was actually a SHE. Now we just call her "Bunny." She's sweet and domesticated, but she won't let anyone hold her unless they can catch her first! She's good about being petted though, and she seems to like children and babies. She likes to dig deep tunnels in our backyard and eat the petals off of my flowers! We feed her dry rabbit pellets and fresh lettuce, carrots, and apples throughout the week. She has the whole upper and lower yards all to herself.

Bunny's kennel full of straw on the first day home. Our "wasky wabbit" uses her kennel only to eat her dry food and for doing her potty business, but she keeps the yard clean! I don't know how I can retrain her, but so far she's healthy, happy, active, and spoiled rotten!

Look at the beautiful bunny! I just want to cuddle her and kiss her furry little nose.

Here, Bunny is checking out our pet turtle. Now we have a "turtle and a hare"--ha-ha.

May 24, 2013: Joseph Samuel Hobbs' baby blessing

To accommodate everyone's schedules on both sides of the family, Sam and Kiley decided to bless their baby on a Friday instead of a Sunday. We held the event in our backyard and had a pizza party afterwards. It was a perfectly beautiful day outside.

We had some Hobbs', some Dunlap's, and a whole lot of Kartchner's show up for Joseph's blessing!

These are Sam and Kiley's first family photos since baby "Joey's" birth, and before Sam leaves home for five long weeks for his Air Force Commissioned Officer'sTraining in Alabama. Sam, Kiley, and Joey are so photogenic. We all LOVE that beautiful baby and his awesomely wonderful parents.

May 14-17, 2013: Mario's overnight stay with Grandma

I love having Mario stay with me for extended visits. We make breakfast together; work on letters and reading; play; read books; go shopping; visit with his cousins in town; watch movies; etc. Mario visited from May 14th through the 17th.

Mario at Sam and Kiley's apartment for a short visit. What a cute little face!

On the 16th, we met Jessica and her boys at the Rio Grande Zoo. It was an unusually HOT day:
Outside the entrance while we wait for the Dunlap's to arrive
Mario sitting at the feet of a bronze lobo (wolf) statue
Hudson and Mario tackle a giant frog near the reptile exhibit
Hudson does not want to share the frog with Mario!
A happy Mario with his new haircut
Jessica and her two sweet boys, Hudson and Beau
Ride 'em cowboy!
The boys decided it was too hot to see all the animals, so we went to
"Grandma's house" and filled up the inflatable swimming pool.
The water was so cold though that the boys were freezing!
They enjoyed a very warm bath afterwards and played happily together.

On April 17th, Mario and I went to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for his doughnut
of choice. Afterwards, we went shopping for new p.j.'s, a baseball hat; shorts and tops;
running shoes, and of course--toys!

Licking the frosting off his face

Mario attempting to smile

Here's another attempt--funny boy!

 New toys to try out

Lots of cars to keep Mario busy
I love you Mario, and I'll miss you like crazy when you're gone!

May 2, 2013: Sammy's little family

Beautiful baby Joseph out for a ride and a visit to his Grandma and Grandpa Hobbs' home on May 2nd. Oh my goodness, what an absolute cutie pie!

Sam and Kiley try to get a new family photo,
but baby Joseph is pretty squirmy!
These turned out pretty good--you guys are just too cute!
