March 1st, 2014: We celebrated Kiley's 22nd birthday a day early with lunch at Pacific Paradise. They had friends over later that evening and enjoyed a strawberry cheesecake that I made for Kiley.

I chose a few of my favorite family photos that Sam and Kiley had taken recently: |

So adorable! Need I say more? |
We had some wonderful rain showers in March and April, and lots of get-togethers with family and friends. After a long winter, spring has been such a welcome and beautiful sight! It made me excited about decorating early for Easter this year.

Mike and I went to a restaurant called Murphy's Mule Barn with friends, Rob and Marie Sorensen for dinner one evening in April. A friend of Rob's had told him that the place served the biggest chicken fried steak in town, so we were anxious to check it out for ourselves.
To our sad surprise, it turned out to be a HUGE disappointment--especially for Marie and I who ordered the famous chicken fried steak. Yes, they were BIG, even to cascading over our large oval shaped plates, but it didn't look or taste like chicken fried steak is supposed to; the "steak" was just grease fried breading with strands of meat in it, and the country gravy was equally disgusting; the gravy tasted like oil and flour mixed together with some milk or water--yuck!
It took a LONG time to get waited on and even LONGER to get our food, so we were starving by the time the food finally arrived. Still, the chicken fried steak was very disappointing for us, and we even missed our movie date because of how slow the service was. We'll never eat at that nasty place again. The only good thing about the evening was playing Canasta with our friends for hours while we waited for our food!

These were better, but the fish ends were over-battered and dried out

On a brighter note, Jessica and I took her boys to see a movie this month
They loved "riding" on the arcade motorcycles afterwards

March 30th: Elder Austin Briscoe's last day serving in Albuquerque (he's the one on the right). He served in our High Desert Ward in the Albuquerque New Mexico Stake, and he was my favorite missionary--always fun-loving and so positive. His companion is Elder Tyler Elliott, another great guy. Like all the other ward missionaries before them, they enjoyed playing Fooseball with Mike whenever they came over. Elder Elliott is pulling a pathetic frown for his companion's departure.

We'll miss you Elder Briscoe! |
