The rest of August 2014: Happy happy joy joy!

August 20th-26th: Our grandsons, Hudson and Beau stayed with us for a week (August 20-26) while Jessica and Sebastian took a trip to Seattle to see family and friends for some important and fun events. We had a wonderful time with their sweet, beautiful boys!

August 22nd: Hudson's Jeep or Dune Buggy that we built together
18 month old Beau shooting hoops!
Hudson getting into the game!
August 24th: Hudson plays with Legos
Wow! Look at this cool truck that we built together
This gorgeous bouquet was delivered to me from one of my sweetest neighbors

August 31st: Our awesome music leader, Derek Lines, makes singing time fun for both the primary children AND the adults! Here, he lets the children put polka dot stickers on his face and body when they sing their best ;-)

The kids LOVED this singing tim activity!

More August 2014 posts: It's harvest time again--with friends and food!

August 15th: Mike and three full-time missionaries helped our neighbors (Jack Ferguson and the Nun's) dig out a stubborn Olive tree trunk that's been lifting up our driveway over the years. They worked all day and into the evening and got the difficult job done! Mike was very sore for days, as I'm sure the rest of the guys were.

Here, neighbor Jay Nun uses the slam bar to jab at the stump's roots
Get 'em cowboy!

August 16th: Mike and I were invited to Jack Ferguson's surprise 75th birthday celebration at O'Niell's Irish Pub! This is the luscious triple chocolate torte that I made for the occasion.

It's not too pretty on the outside, but this cake is chocolate heaven!
Jack thought that his girl friend was taking him out to dinner that evening, but he was greeted by a long table full of party guests who hollered "Surprise!" when he walked into the patio where we were all waiting
Cute table decorations that Jack's daughter, Katy Nun, provided. She also ordered tasty appetizers for the group

Going, going, gone!
Another Cranbrook neighbor, Ken Holley (far right), and other guests at the party

August 17th: Mike picked every last peach off of our new peach tree (2 years old), and they were so delicious!! We also enjoyed grapes, tomatoes, and squash this summer and fall. I like to chop up the tomatoes and freeze them for later use.
Large, sweet peaches!
Tiny tart-sweet grapes, most of which we ended up juicing
These babies come in handy for sauces, soups, and stews

The fine art of juicing!
Start with cleansed fruit
This machine is the bomb! We used green grapes and fresh apples with this batch
Washing and sorting the grapes
Pure, organic deliciousness!

August 2014: Grandkids are the love of my life :-)

August 6th: Joey hangs out with Grandma while his mommy and daddy attend the temple.

Joey's my best little eater! Here he's having a snack of cheese and juice

Look at that sweet Joey face (and I love this doctor shirt he's wearing)

We took Shauna and Jacob out to Longhorn Steakhouse on the west side to celebrate Shauna's 30th birthday! The food was pricey and the portions small, but everything was tasty! Can you guess which dinner each of us ordered?

August 9th: Hudson's 4th birthday "Superhero" party! Jessica did a great job planning and executing Hudson's 4th birthday party at her home. We enjoyed pizza, salad, juice, and fun games--including a piƱata! The kids had a fun time, and Hudson got some great birthday gifts.
