September 2024: Another fun month with family and friends

Sunday, September 1st was the anniversary of when Mike and I first met--46 years ago! I was so tired that I just made us a simple breakfast meal that night: tons of hash browns, sausage, and an omelet.

My eternal sweetheart--always a good sport and so appreciative

Tuesday, September 10th: Ladies Lunch and Canasta with Shauna Hobbs, Kris Steel, Vanessa Vanhille, Christie Boyack, Amy Norby, Patti Waseta, Erica Garcia, and myself. Vanessa had to leave early, so Becca Anderson (not photographed) came to take her place.

We eat a hearty lunch first, and then we play Canasta and snack on treats for a couple hours. The photos uploaded from last to first, so they are in reverse order.

Awesome Navy brass band

Ten different restaurants competed in the burger challenge

The police hand out free vouchers to the first 100 people to sample the burgers. Jacob's family got two vouchers and went back and forth with samples for our lunch. Every burger was amazing!

There's my Jacob  in the light blue t-shirt hoping to get a voucher

The piggies get their reward--food!

Leaving the fairgrounds, this friendly ostrich came to say hello

The rest of us waited and had slushes and/or milkshakes at Sonic on the way home. That was a FUN day!

The rest of September:
  • My sweet Jacob had an allergic reaction to something and looked so cute with his puffy cheeks
  • I visited seminary classes in the Albuquerque North Stake and met many of the teachers
  • Made donuts one day and need to find a better recipe
  • Went to a chiropractor for issues with my knees, my gait, and my hips. Had x-rays that revealed a less than perfect spine and neck!
  •  Took a long time to heal from a procedure to melt the fat under my eyes; after paying $700 and enduring three long weeks of swelling and bruising, my bags were still there!
  • Took food over and played games with my mother every weekend
  • Played lots of pickleball
  • Celebrated Tyler and Jacob's birthdays
  • Had some fun outings with Mike and our ABQ grandkids

Such a sweet son whom I adore

A delicious lunch date at Lime Vietnamese restaurant

My first attempt at making cake donuts

We gave most of them to Mike's large ministering families

One of the North Stake Seminary classes I attended in September 2024 was at Joslin Haussler's home in Rio Rancho NM

I had these x-ray images taken at my chiropractor's clinic

A healthy pasta salad I made that we really liked

We gave most of it away since we had too much

My panda bear face after having the fat under my eyes melted off, or so I was told. The bruises extended down my cheeks and face for three weeks!

Mike shuffling our playing cards at my mom's house

She was laughing at his facial gestures and wanted me to take some pictures!

Sunday, September 22nd: Celebrating Tyler and Jacob's birthdays

I love this sweet, imaginative boy!

Tyler got a large set of Zoob Builderz from us

And a cool adult bicycle

Goofy selfies of Hudson Dunlap

I hope these photos embarrass Hudson one day--haha

I've had more than my share of falls on my poor knees

My first attempt at making Shrimp Pad Thai at home

This ugly Vinegaroon will ruin anyone's appetite! We found it on our front porch in a sickly state.

Monday, September 30th: Our one-on-one birthday date with Tyler!
We had lunch at Freddy's, followed by games at the house; and a movie outing to see "The Wild Robot" at Century Rio 24 Theaters. It was a fun day!
