INDEPENDENCE DAY 2009
Our 4th of July was a quiet one this year. Jessica and Sebastian joined Mike and I for a BBQ on our back porch, followed by fireworks later that evening. We were all tired, but we always have a great time together. We missed Jacob and Shauna for the festivities, but they had already made other plans. Maybe next year...

After a delicious, filling, American meal of grilled rib eye steaks, chicken, corn on the cob, and zucchini, and lime jello with pears, cream cheese, and cool whip (compliments of the Dunlap's), we lit some sparklers in the front yard.

Here, Jessica and Sebastian pretend to be fire eaters:

WEDDING RECEPTION

Jacob and Shauna's wedding reception was held in our back yard six days after their wedding day--on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 6-8pm. It was crowded, fun, and delicious! Check out the fancy chocolate dipped strawberries and the mouth watering fresh fruit platters that our friend, Carol Ritchie created:
Here's the "groom's cake" that we served during the first half of the reception, which Carol also made:

Notice the only person at the buffet table? Actually, Mike and a handful of others started eating before the reception officially started. Some of our guests had to come early because of scheduling conflicts.
In the next photo, some of the main food items can be seen. We served Hawaiian meatballs, pad Thai noodles with chicken, Mongolian beef, orange chicken, Chinese vegetarian spring rolls and chicken egg rolls with sweet and sour sauce, and Indian rice with beef and vegetables--yummy!

Like all at once, here they come! Jacob and Shauna eagerly greet their guests:
And they just keep coming!
Guests enjoy the tasty buffet and go back for seconds and thirds! My best friend, Marie Sorensen (in front with blonde hair), as well as her husband Rob, helped tremendously with the tables and chairs, the decorating, chilling the fountain drinks, filling the luminario bags in our driveway, and keeping the drink fountain filled during the reception. I love you Rob and Marie!

My dear friend Cheryl Oberer (in front with the turquoise top) served as our wedding consultant, did all the flowers, and helped in the kitchen all evening--I love you Cheryl!
