INDEPENDENCE DAY 2009
Our 4th of July was a quiet one this year. Jessica and Sebastian joined Mike and I for a BBQ on our back porch, followed by fireworks later that evening. We were all tired, but we always have a great time together. We missed Jacob and Shauna for the festivities, but they had already made other plans. Maybe next year...

After a delicious, filling, American meal of grilled rib eye steaks, chicken, corn on the cob, and zucchini, and lime jello with pears, cream cheese, and cool whip (compliments of the Dunlap's), we lit some sparklers in the front yard.

Here, Jessica and Sebastian pretend to be fire eaters:

Here, Jessica removes the American flag from its flagpole so she can parade the stars and stripes around our front yard:
Mike pretends to plant the American flag into the soil, representing the rights and freedoms that we enjoy because of the courage and sacrifices made by our founding fathers and the many who gave their lives to defend those liberties. God Bless America!
