Mike and I were thrilled when we found out that Jonny Hatch and his family were driving through Albuquerque on their way back to Texas from their Idaho trip and were wanting to stay overnight with us!
We hadn't seen Jonny and Emily since their wedding! It was so fun to meet their three children, including 6 month old Billy. They had a late dinner at our house, then Jessica came over with her girls and visited for a bit (before heading to a New Year's Eve party with her family). After Jonny and Emily got the kids to bed, Mike played some foosball with Jonny, and we all talked for a while. I knew they were tired from their travels, but it was hard to say goodnight. They are the sweetest couple.
The following morning I got up early and made the Hatch family a hot breakfast of French toast, bacon, eggs, and orange juice. The kids played for a short time after they ate, then it was time for them to go. I am so grateful that we got to see Jonny and Emily and to meet their cute family. Jonny has so much of his beloved mother, Julie, in him, as well as his wonderful father, Brad.

January 1st: I had extra batter from the previous Chocolate Bar Layer Cake, and made this mini version for fun |

We gave half of the mini cake to the Dunlap's and half of our half to Jacob's family |
