We had planned to take our friend Patti Waseta on the river with us and perhaps another friend. At the last minute we decided to have Hudson and Beau join us. We got a later start than usual, but the disappointing part was that Hudson got scared and wouldn't go on the water. After Patti and I were safely in our boats, Mike ended up leaving Hudson behind while the rest of us floated down the river for a couple of hours and then loaded the boats up and drove back to pick him up. I felt sick about not having him with us!
Luckily for Hudson, he was well cared for by the Search and Rescue team who were watching the river for boaters who needed help. The water was extra high that day, and there were warning signs of danger and drowning in the river. No wonder Hudson was so scared to go in. But the river was pretty calm and easy to maneuver. The weather and the water were perfect. Hudson would have enjoyed it with us. Even Beau had an easy time floating his kayak!
