2014 Japan Trip with Jacob--Fukuoka: Day 1

On our way to Fukuoka for the 5th International Symposium on Energetic Materials and Applications, where Mike presented a technical paper.

Mike and Jacob buying tickets for the bullet train to Fukuoka at the train station

These babies are FAST!!

A cool close-up of a different bullet train in Japan

Me in my seat on the bullet train and ready for a nap!
Cute man Mike spent most of the ride visiting with his seat companion

The Luigans Spa and Resort Hotel in Fukuoka was far from the city and on the coast

The beautiful Marine World building aquarium close to our hotel is awesome!

Jacob in his soft, comfy room pajamas--we all got a pair to wear each night
The beach seen from outside our hotel window on the 3rd floor
The hotel pool was pretty, but it was too cold outside to go swimming
Our awesome bedroom at the Luigans Spa and Resort Hotel in Fukuoka
There's even a third bed in this spacious hotel room
The desk and large flat screen in our room
Our large vanity and separate bath area
The large conference room that Mike attended during the symposium
Pretty dining area where breakfast was served each morning

Mike with Dr. Kato, one of the Japanese presenters at the conference

There were 16 Japanese fireworks companies who put on an amazing fireworks display
outside the hotel banquet room the first night. And we got to judge and rank them ;-)
