November 2023: Birthdays and Hatch visits

November was another busy month with birthdays, out of town family staying with us, and holidays!

Wednesday, November 1st: We attended a beautiful "Dia De Los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) ward dinner party ever! This was Denise Browley's dream, and she had an excellent committee including the Primary presidency that did such an amazing job decorating, making the food, and organizing activities, face painting, and piƱatas for the children and youth.

Michelle Croft transformed herself!

Friday, November 3rd: For their early birthdays, we treated Jess and Seb out to Freddy's for dinner and then surprised them with a Ghost Tour of Old Town afterwards. It was cold but beautiful, and the story telling was interesting! I really wanted to stop somewhere afterwards for hot chocolate or ice cream to end our date. Unfortunately, everything was already closed.

Tuesday, November 7th: Our beautiful Jessica turned 39 today! We invited her family over to celebrate her birthday and Seb's 41st birthday (which is on the 12th) with comfort food (roast beef with all the trimmings, plus a green salad and fruit) and games.

Got this cute little watermelon from Norman and Irina James

I'm sorry I waited too long to cut open the little watermelon. It was overripe and mushy, but I cut it up and served it anyway.

Browning two chuck roasts for our roast beef dinner

Black Forest Mini Cheesecakes for dessert

Fun-loving Sebastian is always game for a party!

The kids decorated with streamers and homemade birthday cards

Saturday, November 4th: We took care of Vernon two weekends this month and wanted to treat him to a movie both times. The first weekend, he was sleep deprived. And the second weekend he was in a happier mood and enjoyed the movie more.

Friday, November 10th: Vernon's cheesy smile cracks me up. He looks like a chipmunk! He loves our movie outings and especially the movie theater popcorn.

An outing with my Dunlap grandchildren. We stopped at Walmart for treats; ate and played at McDonald's; then went to Century Rio 24 and watched "Five Nights at Freddy's."

During my facial lipo recovery, I decorated for the holidays!

Made three dozen green chili cornbread muffins for a missionary zone conference and extras for family and friends. They are so yummy, especially warm with butter and honey.

Also baked our favorite Hershey's Best Brownies for our November relief society birthdays and for our family

Found this very tasty honey recently

Monday, November 13th: Jennifer Ensz and her brother Logan, wife Evangeline, and little Ariel stopped by and had lunch with us. They were visiting from California.

Wednesday, November 15th: Lunch date with Jacob and Shauna at Nagomi Japanese restaurant. Love this candid shot of Jacob's handsome face.

November 17th: Some of my fun birthday surprises

Mike took me to Thai Spice for a delicious lunch, and then to see the new "Hunger Games" movie afterwards. It was a fun date!

I had Chicken Pad Thai, and Mike had his favorite Yellow Chicken Curry

Mike got these cool new lawn games from Jared for his belated 64th birthday (which is on October 13th). We are going to have FUN in our completed backyard!

Friday, November 17th: Jessica and Sebastian treated all of us out to dinner at Restoration Pizza for my 65th birthday! The food was great, and the kids had a fun time together.

Opening fun gifts from Jessica and Shauna, my sweet daughters. I was so tired that night from sleep deprivation and a FULL day of celebrating.

Thank you for my thoughtful gifts Seb, Jess, and Shauna!

Saturday, November 18th: The Hatch family stayed overnight on their way to Utah from Texas. Emily's younger sister Ellie took Jonny's place and helped with the long drive. Mike entertained the kids with his foam swords before bedtime!

Saturday, November 25th: Jess wearing the cool hoodie she got from Jacob for her birthday. We popped in unannounced, and their family was watching a Christmas movie upstairs. Mike snapped a photo of their neighbor's (Ken and Ann Nunez) amazing life size Nativity and Sebastian's awesome job with their Christmas lights.

Sunday, November 26th: Jonny and Emily Hatch and their young family stayed overnight on their way back to Texas from Utah. I think they've stayed with us more than any of our own children!
