When We Were Young

I was looking through some old photos and took a walk down memory lane. My life with Michael Lane Hobbs has been anything but ordinary. We may have grown old and less attractive over the years, but our love is as strong and as sweet as it has ever been.

I love my sweetheart, my wonderful husband and best friend with all my heart and soul. We have been through many trials and wonderful experiences together, and I wouldn't trade my life with anyone else in the world. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for guiding me throughout my life and for helping me and Mike to find each other at Ricks College on September 1st, 1978!

Our wedding day on March 28th, 1981 in the Idaho Falls Temple was the BEST day of my life! The next best day was leaving Illinois and my past life behind. I was so happy and excited to begin our married lives together and to find our first apartment in Provo Utah! It was a wonderful, happy time despite limited money and having to find work. I loved turning our plain apartment into our first home, shopping for groceries each week, planning our meals, and just being "home" with my best friend each night.

We have built our marriage on a strong partnership of love and devotion and raised our children in the gospel of Jesus Christ and his Restored Church. Each of our precious children have been the greatest blessing and source of happiness for us! I love my children more than words can express! Each birth and baby was a special joy for me, and I loved being a mother! I LOVE Jared, Jessica, Jacob, and Samuel so very much! My favorite time was when they were all home and I could read to them in bed, tuck them in, say our nightly prayers, and kiss them goodnight.

I miss these two love birds! They always made our visits special and fun

My Idaho Spud, I mean Stud! I don't know where or when this photo was taken, but it reminds me of how Mike looked when we were dating.

A visit to Uncle Loren Pitcher's home in Corrales NM (baby Jared is in my brother Richard's lap)

1985: In our Houston Texas apartment with my beautiful baby Jessica (6 months old) and our sweet little Jared (2 years old)

Mike worked for Pectin International, a subsidiary of Shell Oil Company in Houston Texas, for two years. Look at Jared and Jessica's adorable faces!

At someone's house for dessert? I was the homemaking counselor in Relief Society in our Houston TX Memorial Ward, and Mike was a Primary sunbeam teacher. He taught Jared and the other children in his class to memorize the 13 Articles of Faith! Mike was an awesome Primary teacher.

Beth West who was part of our Relief Society later (the girl on the left) talked me into auditioning for the stake musical "South Pacific." The blonde girl was the lead actor who had the romantic and solo singing parts.

March 28th, 1988: Our 7-year wedding anniversary. Mike looks so young and handsome! Wish I could look that young again too.

Ready for church!

It was hard to get the extra weight off after having Sam. I never felt thin enough! But now I'd be happy to trade my body for that younger version of myself any day!
At a chuck wagon dinner and dance in the 10th Ward after our move to Albuquerque New Mexico. We had so much fun, and we took my mom with us!
In our first home on 5301Veronica Street in Albuquerque, ready for church. We moved into our home in August of 1990 when Sam was just a year old.

Mike always spoiled me!

I love this photo of Mike and Howard in drag singing "Santa Baby" at my mother's house. It was a surprise Christmas performance that Jacquie orchestrated for our entertainment and laughs! Mike made the CUTEST woman!

Since I seldom have pictures of my younger sister Jacquie, I cherish these photos of her from when we were younger.

Becoming a grandmother was another wonderful joy in my life! I have loved every sweet child that has joined our eternal family from our very first grandchild, Mario Michael Hobbs. He was born on October 27, 2007. Next came Hudson Geoffery Dunlap, born August 7, 2010. Our third grandson, Milo Julian Hobbs, arrived on January 16, 2011; followed by Tyler Matthew Hobbs on September 24, 2011! And that was just the beginning! We would be blessed with 9 more grandchildren in the months and years that followed.

This colorful family photo was taken in our backyard of our Cranbrook home. I love that smile on Mario's adorable face and the angelic look on Hudson's handsome face. I also love how all the siblings look happy!
