From Leeds University, to Sherwood Forest and a Robin Hood Festival, to the London Temple in one day--that was a great feat! And to top it off, Mike was able to drive us safely from one place to another while sitting on the right side of the car and driving on the left side of the road!
Our final evening in Leeds, a lovely banquet was catered for all the conference attendees in the Refectory on the University of Leeds campus. A small, live band was playing, and we were served several courses throughout the night. We sat at a table with all French people, but the woman beside me was very friendly and spoke great English.
The following day was Friday. We packed, ate our last hearty breakfast at the Refectory, then drove to Sherwood Forest near Nottingham. It was a long drive, but we were happy to learn that a Robin Hood Festival was taking place in the forest this week! A lot of people were there with their children, and there was plenty of running around space in the great outdoors to accommodate them. Various exhibits and tents were set up throughout the walk through Sherwood Forest with educational narrative and fun demonstrations.
After we left the forest, we headed toward London to attend an endowment session. It was a very long and slow drive due to the rush hour traffic. We made it to the London Temple just in time to hurry and get dressed for the 7pm session! There were only about a dozen patrons including us. The celestial room is gorgeous and romantic with its elegant victorian decor and chandeliers and the gold carpet and gold accents throughout the room. So glad we made it to the temple AND got in!
