November 16-20, 2015: Our trip to Idaho

November 15th: When Mike and I left Palo Alto, we drove straight to Idaho Falls for Angie Miles (Hobbs) wedding to Michael Hoffman on the 20th. We went through Tahoe National Forest and Blue Canyon, which were beautiful and white with snow.

November 16th: When we arrived in Idaho Falls, we stayed with Mike's mom, Joy. She had a commitment of selling tickets for the Festival of Trees at the Shilo Inn Convention Center that week, so her mornings were busy. The next morning was my 57th birthday, and we drove up to Scott Hobbs' cabin in Island Park to spend a few hours with him, his boys, Caelum and Malik, and his dad, Steve (Mike's older brother).

When we got back to Mom's house, we went out to Chili's for a light dinner, then went to a local children's performance of "Peter Pan" with Julie and her younger children at the Civic Auditorium. That was a fun birthday for me, and so glad I got to spend it with Mike and Mom.

No wonder Scott and Gabby like to get away and stay at their cabin as often as possible. It's so serene and beautiful here
When we returned to Idaho Falls that evening, we took Mom out to dinner at Chile's and enjoyed a nice dinner. On the 18th, we did a little shopping and prepared a tasty dinner for the three of us. Mom invited a good friend to join us for the meal, and the four of us played Pinochle.

The meal we made Mom during our visit consisted of steak with peppers, onions
and mushrooms; roasted red potatoes; petite green beans with bacon, and cheesy herb biscuits

November 19th: We were invited to Brad and Julie (Mike's little sister) Hatch's home for homemade pizza and salad. Handsome Nathaniel Hatch plays his cello while his beautiful sister Heidi accompanies him on piano. They are a loving brother and sister team and duet!

Doesn't she look a lot like an older version of Mike?!

November 20th: Angie Miles (Hobbs) and Michael Hoffman's wedding day! The special event took place at Angie and Michael's favorite restaurant, The Bridge. Family and close friends attended the wedding and dinner. Angie's dad, Dan Hobbs (Mike's oldest brother), married Angie and Michael and did most of the talking that night! Dan gave Michael and Angie plenty of marital advice, parental counsel, and words of wisdom. The whole time, I kept thinking how uncomfortable Angie must have been standing so long in her dress shoes !
