June 7th: My mother invited me to go on a "Free Bahamas Cruise For Two" with her! I paid for an upgrade to include Mike and a beach-front view from our Bahamas Resort Hotel. What my mother didn't realize was that she had signed up for high pressure sales pitches on Time-Share Condominiums in Palm Beach at the beginning of our trip!
We were put up in an old run-down Ramada Inn in Ft. Lauderdale and were expected to rent a car and drive to Palm Beach, an hour's drive one way. Our sales guy treated us to a nice breakfast, and then he spent at least five hours trying to convince us to buy into a time-share condo. After being met with two additional salespeople, we were finally free to leave. But we were also required to meet with more salespeople the following morning before we could get our vouchers signed--vouchers for the cruise!
So the first two days were rough. But we were determined to make the best of the situation. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet the second day, then checked out of our hotel and drove around Palm Beach. We collected some shells on the beach; looked at expensive homes in the area, did a bit of shopping at a local pharmacy, and took our time getting to the cruise ship parking. It was exciting boarding the ship and looking forward to the Bahamas cruise!

Making the most of a crappy dinner buffet. The fried chicken was tiny, and there wasn't a lot to choose from. |

Wish we could have spent the day on the beach instead of with the sales guy! |
