June 30-July 3, 2017: Europe trip--Amsterdam and Delft, Holland

June 30th: Our first time in Holland! Amsterdam has canals running in every direction under the streets. There are "hop on, hop off " boats in the canals, like water taxi's. It was cooler here than in England or Germany, and it rained a little while we were there.

Amsterdam is a cyclist's city, and they seem to have the right-of-way wherever you go! I felt unsafe whenever trying to cross the street, and walking around stressed me out.

Some of the things we did was: visit a Diamond Museum where we learned about diamonds (I also tried on a $14,000 ring), stroll through beautiful gardens, and enjoyed a couple of cool water fountains.

July 1st: Taking in the sights and smells of Amsterdam. Our favorite foods were Belgium waffles with soft serve ice cream and cherry topping, Brazilian carved meat sandwiches with coleslaw, and the fast food Wok restaurant that was always crowded with customers. The bakeries were also very pretty and colorful.

We went to the Anne Frank House and to the Rembrandt Museum. They were great. I especially loved seeing Anne Frank's diaries and the photos of her family.

July 2nd and 3rd: The Vincent Van Gough Museum was pretty amazing. I enjoyed getting to know the artist better and seeing his many great works. He did a lot of self-portraits!

July 3rd: Delft, Holland is called "Little Amsterdam" and it's where I bought most of our souvenirs. I spent the day in that small college town while Mike was at a work meeting.

Oh man! This looks like a really fun city, too! All of your outings seemed so cool - the museums and the Anne Frank house. And boy, you guys know how to eat! Those bakeries look to die for! :)
