August 10: In Utah on our way to Idaho! Jess caught this cute scene of Hannah holding Hudson's hand while she tried to fall asleep. Hudson is her favorite person in the whole world and her protector (and he is chewing gum in this photo).
Idaho Falls, Idaho--We finally made it after a long 13.5 hour drive. I loved watching Jessica in action as a mother on the road. She is so loving and patient, and she takes every opportunity to teach her children. The kids were GREAT, even Hannah who got so tired of sitting in a carseat. We only stopped a few times along the way for gas, food, and potty breaks. The kids were SO HAPPY to get out of the car for good and to run around Joy's lush green backyard and spacious home.
August 11th: Hannah did a no-no and picked a flower or two from Joy's gorgeous flower gardens. Joy sure has a very green thumb! Mike took some pictures of her amazing, colorful variety of flowers.
We took the kids to the little playground near the Idaho Falls River and just up the street and around the corner from Joy's house in the morning, and they loved playing there.
August 12th: On the Idaho Falls Temple grounds the day of Kendall Hatch and Hannah Murray's wedding! We dropped the kids and water and snacks off for Heidi Hatch to babysit while the rest of us went into the temple marriage waiting room until it was time to go upstairs to the sealing room for the wedding.
Look how fancy Heidi looks dressed in her bridesmaid dress! When all the bridesmaids were together, they looked like a professional singing group--all they needed was a microphone--ha-ha! The couple missing from the photos below is Dan and Tammy Hobbs from Pocatello, Idaho. They are currently full-time missionaries in the Cebu Philippines Temple Mission. Dan created an awesome blog to document their mission.
Another reason we went up to Idaho was to see Julie Hatch, Mike's baby sister. She was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer over nine years ago and has been on experimental treatments over the years. The tumors spread throughout her body and has taken a toll on her health, especially during the last year. She has lost so much weight and is in constant pain. It was shocking to see her so thin and weak, but we were happy to see her smile. She is a wonderful person and an excellent mother to her seven children. Julie is an inspiration to us all and we love her so very much.
After a hot afternoon wait, here comes the new bride and groom--Kendall and Hannah Hatch! They looked so happy and relieved after a long day, and they still had more wedding photos to go through.
Hannah wanted a picture with the newlyweds, but then she got too shy to smile! Heidi Hatch and the other bridesmaids were so pretty in their flashy sequined gowns. Another family bridesmaid was Emily Hatch, who was recently married to Heidi's brother, Jonathan last October. She's a sweetheart of a girl, and they are expecting a baby next March!
We were happy to see Angie Hoffman and her family this weekend. She and Michael seem happy together, and Angie's sons (Tyler and Jason, not pictured here) have really grown and matured.
Back at Joy's house, I made us a late lunch while the kids played and hung out with their cousins. Go Hudson! It was lots of fun getting visits from Angie's family.
The reception, as well as a family BBQ the night before, was held at a neighbor's huge parklike backyard. It was great to see more of the Hobbs' side of the family; to meet the wonderful Hatch side of the family; and to get a fun visit by Jenni and Ted Finch and their daughters, Abby and Juliet, who came for the wedding reception. We played games at the house later that evening after the reception while the little ones watched a movie down in the family room.
