2014 Japan Trip with Jacob--Hiroshima: Part 1

The final leg of our Japan trip was spent in Hiroshima before heading back to Tokyo for last minute souvenir shopping before leaving for the U.S. We checked into our hotel at the Ana Crowne Plaza; found a yummy place to eat dinner, and then spent the next day viewing a few amazing historic landmarks.
Jacob and I heading towards our hotel in Hiroshima
We got in late and didn't hit the hay until after the guests in the room
below us complained--we got a call from the front desk after 11pm!
All our stuff in these small hotels really junked them up, but we had fun!

Yummy ramen shop that Jacob especially enjoyed
Mike and Jacob excitedly await their dinner order
The delicious moyashi tastes great alone or added to ramen
Steamed, pan-fried gyoza was a favorite appetizer
Mike's fancy pork broth ramen with pork, seaweed, and a raw egg on top
Condiments of roasted seaweed and scallions
Jacob's dark broth ramen with pork (kurouma)
My regular pork broth ramen with pork
View of the domed building (Genbaku dome) that survived the
first atomic bombing in Hiroshima in 1945
Mike with one of our many ice cream delights at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial park
Pretty little girl in a kimono at the park
Beautiful tree on our way to the domed building
This little boy in a kimono had just tripped and fallen before we
took this picture of him and his parents
Cool shot of the domed building and Mike from the bridge
Can't get enough of these fall colors (near the river)!
This man and his bike caught my attention
Genbaku, the only original building left standing in Hiroshima after the A-bomb
