March 16-23, 2021: San Antonio trip!

On March 1st this year, our 13th grandchild was born to Sam and Kiley in San Antonio Texas! I was so eager to meet our newest family member, Noah Lane Hobbs. So I talked Mike into going to San Antonio.

Before Noah's birth and during his first week of life, Kiley's parents traveled to San Antonio to visit Sam and Kiley's family and to help with the baby. The second week of Noah's life, Sam took the week off to stay home and help Kiley with the kids. Then on the third week of Noah's life, Mike and I had our turn to visit and to help.

I am so glad we made the trip! I loved holding, feeding, bathing, and changing baby Noah. I miss him (and the rest of his family) so much. I tried to do as much of the cooking and day-to-day caring for the kids as I could manage. Mike was a wonderful companion, help, and support, and the kids loved every moment with their Grandpa Hobbs.

Kiley and I did a few shopping trips together, and took turns feeding baby Noah. I wanted her to get some extra rest while Mike and I were visiting, so we tried to "take over" many of Kiley's endless responsibilities.

One of the highlights of our trip was walking Joey and Eli to and from school each weekday morning. I LOVED that time with them. The challenging part was waking up early each morning to get the boys out of bed and ready for school. I was so tired every day. I can only imagine how tired Kiley will be!

March 18th: We treated the family to Longhorn Steak House for dinner but had to wait in the van for a LONG time before a table was available for us. Everyone was so tired, but the kids were very good, and the food was great.

We went to an awesome park (Cathedral Rock Nature Park) not far from their home with Kiley and the kids one day. The playground structure was the coolest that we'd ever seen. The kids played for two hours and loved every minute of it.

After getting the children to bed each night, the grownups could finally relax and visit while playing Canasta at the kitchen table and enjoying snacks together. I love playing games with our kids!

After a week of staying with Sam's family, it was sad to say goodbye to everyone. Sure wish they lived here in Albuquerque. But we will see them in May and again in June before they move to Los Angeles for two years.

This baby reminded me so much of Jared and Joey!

I LOVE this boy (Joey)!

Precious little Eden stole our hearts

Having two older brothers who are rough
and wild makes this girl tough and fearless!

Eli is so adventurous and happy all the time

The older girl on the right got everyone at the park
to play "ZOMBIES" with her, and they had a blast!

We came home to freezing cold temperatures after
perfect weather in Texas, but it warmed up in a few days
